Introduction to Sector Based Work Academies

The Government has introduced a range of measures to help get Britain working, Sector Based Work Academies (SBWA) are designed to help individuals who are ready for work and in receipt of benefits to secure employment. They have been designed to meet employers’ needs to recruit candidates with the rights skills, behaviours and knowledge to sustain in employment.

Sector based work academies can be designed to our clients, and our own, requirements and will last between 3 days and 6 weeks, every course consists of 3 key components:

  • Pre-employment training - relevant to the needs of the business and sector, this training can include Food Safety, Manual Handling or your clients bespoke material

  • Work experience - this can be a site tour and introduction or it could be on the job training which is unpaid as the candidates are in receipt of benefits

  • Guaranteed job interview - anyone who completes the course is guaranteed an interview not a job


PMP partner with over 25 training providers to offer SBWA's to our business and each course and provider offer a slightly different solutions to source and train workers prior to employment

  • PMP source the candidates and the training providers trains them

  • Utilise local JCP to source candidates and we pre-screen all candidates prior to attending the course

  • Provider sources candidates using their connections
