Cordant Recruitment recently went through a reaccreditation for Investors in People which led to a successful result.
Kelly Barfoot the IIP assessor spent 5 days in the business and interviewed 68 people across the Cordant recruitment brands. The assessment also included an observation of training sessions and information on processes that support people development.
As part of the review Kelly said, “I found Cordant Recruitment to be an exciting and fast paced employer ready to continually evolve for sustainability”.
There were many areas of strength identified in terms of learning and development, most notably the coaching programme. Coaching was found to have really resonated with managers, many of whom, use the approach daily with their teams.
Further strengths included:
Business plans for each area were understood
Clear objectives/targets for employees
Values that reflected the organisations culture
Plentiful opportunities for learning and development
Work based learning
Cordant is perceived as a positive employer and empowered employees who saw opportunities for progression
Areas for improvement and preparation required for the changes being made to the IIP assessment in the future were:
To embed the business plan’s message into the wider Cordant Group plans
To deliver consistent messages in the Cordant values and assessment of behaviours against the values
To improve communications across the group and through all levels. Although this was a highlighted strength around regular meetings and one to ones, improvements will be required on the recording of this information
- Keep encouraging the use of e-learning provision
The conclusion of the assessment was that as a business many good practices are in place which will provide a good foundation when we move onto the new generation 6 of the IIP framework in 2020.
There will be a review in 2018 to review progress to ensure we are on track to the new standard.
A great achievement for Cordant Recruitment - well done and a huge thank you to all those that took part in the interviews and for the all the hard work that is going on, be relentless and keep it going.
